Nouval Kemalsyah [0331328] Video Editing & Production Week 2 Lecture: Film Language We started the lecture with the history of filming, and when mr.Martin said the first ever film is a recording of a train, i remember this movie called Hugo and at the end turns out he also use that clip as a reference. But not just that we learned the skill of cinematography, back when i learned a little bit of cinematograph but didnt really dwell into it just the basic stuff like angles,and in this lecture we basically learned that. Every angle has its different uses in scenes like: Extreme Wide Shot (EWS) A broad view of the surroundings of a character. Often used at the beginning as an 'establishing' shot. Wide Shot (WS) A wide shot of important subjects and objects and their immediate surroundings Medium Wide Shot (MWS) Shows characters cut off across the legs or below the knees Medium Shot (MS) I A medium sot showing the subject's gestures and expressions.
